Embedded Comment Box was not working

It has been a while since I received any comments. I was starting to think maybe my artwork, comic strips or my reviews were bad. Out of the blue, I received a message from a fellow Entrecard member, Origena from http://origena.blogspot.com/ informing me that my comment system was not working. No wonder I have not be receiving any comment for a long while.

I spent an hour checking my template and I figure out there is something wrong with the embedded comment box. To solve that problem, I switched to pop-up for comment. So now you guys can comment! :P

Once again I would like to thank Origena for taking the extra effort to inform me. God bless you.

Nelson Mandela: Long walk to Freedom

I bought this book a week ago when I was shopping at Borders.

It is the biography of Nelson Mandela. There are a few reasons why I bought this book.

A few years ago I went to Africa and I started to appreciate Africa. When I was in South Africa, Johannesburg, I went to "Nelson Mandala Square" and there I learned that he was the first fully elected president of S.A.

To find out more about him (a noble prize winner), I bought the book.

It started from his childhood (his roots) and it gave many fine details of his heritage, feelings and his memories. I am not even half way through the book but it kept me reading.

The book also include some of his photos too.

Coming from a 90 years old man, this is an interesting read which are rich details in writing about life in Africa.

Force Unleashed Starwars PSP game review

The story is set between Episode 3 (Revenge of the Sith) and 4 (A New Hope). Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice, one more powerful than Vader and the Emperor is here. He inspired and spearheaded the rebellion and he is YOU! And you get to take it everywhere you go with your PSP.

For the first time you get to use Jedi and Sith power regardless of being on light and dark side. You can do the Vader's choke ("I find your lack of faith disturbing"), The Emperor's electrical shock ("Now Jedi, you will die!") and other "lifting and throwing" force. You can customize your own lightsaber from the handle, color of your blade and power crystals ("The crystal is the heart of the blade. The heart is the crystal of the Jedi...")which you collect throughout your journey. They are many costumes for you to choose from too.

So who will fight along the way? Warning: Spoiler ahead.

Being a neutral party, you have the luxury to cut everything along your path. From droids, Junk Golem, Stormtroopers, Emperor's Shadow Guard, AT-AT, Wookiee, AT-ST, Felucian Warrior, Rancor, bounty Hunter, Mandalore, Jedi to Sith Lord (that include Vader and the Emperor). Fun isn't it?

The storyline is interesting with more depth of other characters. Look out for Proxy. A droid more interesting than C3PO and R2D2. He gets to take on Vader. No joke.

Vader's secret apprentice being powerful was rather foolish or a better word loyal and forgiving in a way. Betrayed by Vader once, he still does his bidding. However he is not alone. Juno Eclipse, a female pilot who had the voice of Larry Croft will stand by him all the way. Together they inspire a rebellion against the empire.

At the end of the game you get to choose to fight Vader or the Emperor. The ending will be different depending on your choice but Vader's secret apprentice will not escape his fate which is death. Rightfully so as he should not interfere with "The New Hope" making Luke Skywalker to be the most powerful Jedi in time to come. Good part is, you get to trash Vader before Luke did. That make Vader such a loser right?

The player (being a player of Vader's secret apprentice) can get to face off with Luke at the "Force Duel" mode on PSP. Actually you get to play any Jedi and Sith depending which part of the game you completed. This is the only time you can fight with Luke Skywalker but he is not alone. His father, Vader is with him and he claimed the force is strong in his family. So take on them with all the skills and upgrades you have earn after completing the story mode. Yoda never appear in this game but it a good thing you get to play and fight as Qui-Gon.

If you want more than fighting a single jedi or sith battle, you may order an Order 66. The Empire's soldiers will come wave after wave after you. With blasters, AT-AT, troopers with electrical pole and the one I hate most, stormtroopers with jetpack. Having all the "force" in max upgrades, it is still not an easy task when numbers of them flooding (Gang banging) at you. Once you completed your order 66, you can get to play as Darth Maul.

There is also a Historical mode where you play certain characters in certain part of the story in the Starwars movie. Like Anakin dueling with Count Dooku, Luke skywalker fighting Bobafett in dune sea, Obiwan fighting Anakin in Mustafa, Mace windu in The Geonosis Colosseum fighting Jago fett and more.

The game is not without flaws, the camera is unfriendly sometime. No matter how powerful you are with the force, getting the object and throw to the target in the heat of the battle can be a fuss. Sometime you may even have problem choking a jet stormtroopers to his death after using a full bar of your force when your choke grade is already at max damage upgrade... However this game had me kept replaying in story and duel mode on the go.

For all Starwars fan, this is a game you shouldn't miss it. You can get it on other console too. It came out for almost every game console anyway. No reason for you not be able to play.

Bandai Dragonball Super Saiyan Goku Toy Review

Dragon Ball comic has come a long way. I do have some Dragon Ball collection but I will start from my recent buy (got it because it was on discount).

Meet Super Saiyan (超サイヤ人) Goku (the first transformation) from Bandai action figure series. Actually Bandai seems to have many version of action figure but this was what I got from local retail store. This figure is about 5 inches tall. Having multiple articulation joints. Let's see how articulated it is shall we?

Packaging
As a 5" toy, the overall packaging is pretty standard. The card packaging at the front is the quality of the figure, the name and other artwork. The back of the card is where it display the rest of the figure in hope that collectors will collect them all.

You notice the price didn't you? It was on Sale and I got one. Yes just one and it took me a long time to decide to get one. Reason I explain later.

I personally like the card artwork at the front by Akira Toriyama. That was the Goku that I love in my teens.

I wonder why Bandai do not spend more time in doing other individual drawing of characters for the packaging of each toy? Cost cutting reason I suppose.

Compare to the artwork on the card, this toy Super Saiyan Goku do look different.

The face is the main reason why it took me so long to consider to get one.

Articulation
Just how articulated this figure is? Here is a rough sample of the movement of the joints.

The feet were rather small but that how it was drawn in the comic I suppose.

You can even remove his shirt like the comic too.

The hand does not offer finger movement at such the hands are always open and the proportion of the arms does not seems right.

Anyway here is how I make the best out of it. Trying to make this Goku toy as the Goku I know in the comic.

The Famous Kamekameha!

The lighting movement!

The REAL reason I get this Goku is because my first Bandai Vegeta which I got it almost 4 years ago is lonely. This Vegeta was the first realise which come with changeable hands. However as the series was Re-release, they do not offer any changeable hands anymore. You can tell the quality of the paint job too. I got Vegeta as it look really good as it was in the comic.

Now they can start fighting.

Overall with the price I paid, it still worth it especially for kids to play with it. But I still feel that Bandai can do a much more better job. I'm sure when the real movie is release, more toy will be remake and hopefully, they can do a better job. As for other dragon ball comic fan, a new series of Dragonball manga will be out soon in Japan. Old characters with added storyline.

That is all for my review. Hear from you.

If you like my reviews, you may subscribe to my updates or RSS as I will be doing regularly. It is free anyway.

Window LIVE mail / Hotmail Javascript Problem

I have been having problem reading my email using Window LIVE (aka hotmail) since 4 Oct 2008. Out of the blue, the problem arise. I can log in but I could not read the full content of my email individually.

The error reflecting on both browsers I tried (IE & Firefox) is a Javascript error.

And when you click for more details, this is what I got.

Doesn't make sense to most of us I guess but thank God I am not the only one who face this problem.

Apparently it turn out not to be a browser problem but it has to do with your Proxy setting.

The follow steps are configure to a local ISP. If you are not a SingNet users and you face the same problem, you may want to change the proxy to your ISP proxy setting instead. Port remain as 8080.

For IE + SingNet ISP users, you can do the following.

1. Open your IE
2. Tools-->Internet Options-->Connections tab--> LAN Settings
3. Tick the Use proxy server
4. address: proxy.singnet.com.sg port:8080
5. Press Ok button
6. restart IE

For FireFox + Singnet ISP as well can do the following

1. Open your Firefox browser
2. Tools-->Options-->Advanced tab--> Network Tab (sub tab)
3. Click on "Settings" button
4. Select the "Manual Proxy Configuration" radio button
5. HTTP Proxy: proxy.singnet.com.sg port:8080
6. Checked the "Use this proxy server for all protocols" checked box
7. Click on all the OKAY button and restart your browser

There you have it. Do let me know if that solve your problem. Comment or rate it if you find this useful. :)

Have your own Favicon

Here is another sharing entry from me.

For those who do not know what is a Favicon, this is what I am talking about.

Yes. It is the icon that is just beside the address bar. My default was the orange B, Blogspot logo.

I could not stop stressing the benefit of having your own Favicon. It is a norm for net surfer who open multiple tabs and how will your page be standing out? Now you can create your own.

It is quite easy and here are the steps I took to get it done.

Prerequisites:
- Image editing software and basic image software skills.
- web image hosting which could be your own web server or those free image storage online such as Photobucket.

Here how it is done
Create an image or crop an image to 30x30 pixel. You can make it smaller but make sure it should be a square. Save it as an image file (jpg/gif/png). Importance is to keep the file size small so it can load faster. Anyway here is mine.

Upload the image to your web server or free image online.

Now if you are a Blogspot user like me, log in to your account. Go under Layout and to Edit HTML.

Look for </head>

Add this line of quote to just above </head>

<link href='YOUR_IMAGE_ADDRESS' rel='SHORTCUT ICON'/>

Replace YOUR_IMAGE_ADDRESS with your image storage address and SAVE it.

View your blog again and you will see your favicon appearing next to the address bar.

Now you can see your web page is standing out on itself.

You can be so YOU now! Let me know if you have done it too! :)

Bulkhead Leader Class Transformers Animated Toy Review

If you watch Transformer Animated, this could one of popular and well love character with a Big heart. Meet Bulkhead.

I'm one of those who fall in love with Bulkhead half way through the season 1. Among the series of his toy, Leader class series give a justification of the character in the animated, Although the toy maker can do a much better job. Okay on with the review!

Vehicle Mode
A very handsome military vehicle. Much more like a Riot-control vehicle with well shelter window and a water cannon on the top.

Closer look on the water cannon. Unfortunately this toy does not spray water.

The back can be open but all you can see is his arms.

For leader class, having light and sound is a must (that what you get when you pay that much). In vehicle mode, you will get the siren sound and lights.

Transformation
Here are some snap shot of the transformation. It take me sometime to figure out the full transformation. A sound effect will be play when you transform it.

Robot Mode
Look heavy and it does feel heavy. True to the mass but the height is still rather short for me. However it has a good sense of balance.

The head do give light and some movement whenever the Autobot button on the chest is being push.

Another reason I love about this figure are the Phase being played.
"Sorry, my bad." and my personal favorite, "You can do it buddy"

On the right hand is the clip.

On the left, a saw.

both can be do some actions.

Meet Headmaster.

Once you put on this head on the body, another phase will be in play. "Ownage, Total Ownage".

Good though in design and stay faithful to the animation series.

I will do showing a self-made comic strip in the next toy entry. Come back for more.

Do you want more readers or more traffic?

Coming to the end of second week of my blogging, I got some questions on my mind.

Since I added Entrecard, I do get more traffic but as for readers and interaction, it was minimum. I came across a blogger that share tips on how to "Drop" Entrecard more efficiently. You know like 100 drop in 100 blogs within minutes that sort of thing? I don't know why but that kind of turn me off. That mean dropping card without reading what the blogger's articles (unless you are master in speed reading). The droppers will earn the points and the site owner earn web traffic. But what about the content of the blog?
drop drop drop drop drop
Is that what blogging is all about? That prompted me to ask myself the following

Do I want traffic where people just drop the card and go or do I want interested readers instead?

Do I want to write articles on what other people want to read or should I write articles on what I wanted to share or say? Something for me to think it over the weekend.

Anyway I added Digg it and submitted some articles and shortly I got some readers on those articles. That's encouraging.
